Ladies and gentlemen, guess what? I have joined a choir. Singing with other people is really therapeutic, and I heartily recommend it. My choir sings a capella mainly, although sometimes there is a drum accompaniment. We usually meet once a fortnight, although the really keen ones will provide a concert weekly. Our repertoire changes each year, although we do have some tried and trusted old favourites. We have stopped briefly for the summer, but we will start again in August, and there is some talk that we might go on a European tour.
My relations have joined the choir with me, and here we are in our distinctive concert dress, feeling a little nervous just before the performance.

You really have to be there to truly appreciate the songs we sing, but here is a little taster:
Dadada dada dada Jay Rodriguez
All we hear is Sadio Mane
Oohoh Victor Wanyama windemup windemup
La la la lalala Shane Long
And who can forget the classic:
You'll never win that
You'll never win that
Johnson's Paint Trophy
You'll never win that.
A choir obviously needs it's leaders. Here is one of ours

Our last concert before the summer break was extremely well attended, and we were in fine voice.
We opened up with a rousing rendition of:
They're magic, you know
Tadic and Graziano
We moved on to the old classics of
You're only here for the weather,
and
Is this your holiday?
We carried on with an old favourite:
Marian Pahars, Marian
Oh lord, Marian
We are a great choir, and I must admit sometimes we do tend to emphasise that we are just a bit better than the choir seventeen miles down the road. I shall have to paraphrase the lyrics slightly, but it goes a little bit like this:
Lalalala lalalala
Who on Earth is laughing now?
We finished up with an enthusiastic interpretation of the dance mainstay:
5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Let's all have a disco
La la la la la
It is a lovely feeling to be appreciated, and we know that our audience loves us. Here they are saying thank you and see you soon
