1) The Colour of the Sky.
It is blue as blue can be. Seville is the warmest city in Europe, which means that in February it is as warm as an English summer: how good is that?

2) Oranges.
They are everywhere - lots of them lying about in the road, but looking even more attractive on trees. They look absolutely wonderful against the blue sky, or even a slightly grey one.

These trees are in the cathedral courtyard, and it is an atmospheric peaceful place.
3) Sitting about outside cafes drinking wine.
Speaks for itself really

4) The Plaza de Espana
This plaza built in the Mudejar style has its own canal, and flamenco dancers. It has beautifully tiled alcoves depicting all the provinces of Spain, and was constructed for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. The walk through Maria Luisa Park to reach the plaza is delightful.

5) Ceramic tiles generally.
Ceramic tiles are everywhere in Seville. They are on park benches, shop fronts, and are also used to impart historical information in the same way that we use blue plaques. Seville was a major manufacturer of ceramics for hundreds of years, and there is an excellent ceramics museum across the river in Triana.

6) The Motto - NO8DO
It looks very modern, but is hundreds of years old. It stands for: Seville has not abandoned me, and the 8 represents a skein of wool.

7) The Tomb of Christopher Columbus.
Situated inside the cathedral it's a tad ornate and looks plastic in real life. The cathedral is well worth a visit on a rainy day and has a Moorish bell tower.
8) Carmen's Tobacco Factory.
This huge building is now part of the university. It is surrounded by a moat and only has one entrance that used to be guarded by soldiers; so that the workers couldn't steal the tobacco. And that's where Carmen met Jose.

When we walked by there was a lady throwing food to these chaps:
9) Torre del Oro
The Gold Tower, situated on the banks of the River Guadalquivir, is very photogenic and an iconic image of Seville

10) Quirky Streets.
Ceramic plaques inform you that you're on the street where Carmen met Jose in the café, or you might be where Cervantes set one of his novels. Seville is a lovely place to wander round as it has many pedestrian areas. It also has dedicated cycle paths or you could take a carriage ride. We shall definitely be returning in the near future.
